Here's a picture of George the turtle dog. George is a German shorthair pointer / chocolate lab mix that I've trained to sniff out box turtles. I trained him using modified bomb-sniffing techniques that police departments use...that means when he finds a turtle he is to give a passive alert (sit next to the turtle) as opposed to picking it up in his mouth which could lead to shell punctures. So far George and I have marked, measured, mapped, and photographed over 200 box turtles in our 10 acre reserach site!
